ScottishPower RenewablesBlack Law wind farm near Shotts is being extended by 23 wind turbines, and Scottish and Southern Energy Generation’s Blackcraig wind farm near New Galloway will also see the installation of 23 wind turbines.

Scottish Energy Minister Jim Mather says: "Black Law is already a successful wind farm that has turned an open cast mine into a green energy centre. Once the extension is complete, the wind farm will generate enough green electricity to power 98,000 homes. The development is also good for the local economy, with around 80 new jobs during construction and renewed opportunities for local contractors.

"Blackcraig wind farm is a significant development which will make a valuable contribution to meeting 80% of Scotland's electricity demand from renewables by 2020.”
