SAM|XL and Eastman announce partnership

Cutting specialist Eastman Machine has become a technology partner of Smart Advanced Manufacturing XL (SAM|XL), a research center based in Delft, the Netherlands.

SAM|XL is a non-profit foundation that aims to develop smart manufacturing solutions for the low-volume high-variation manufacturing sector.

Plans are for Eastman and SAM|XL to develop and test ways to integrate pick and place robots with its automated cutting machinery. The first project will be an automated lay-up project with Dutch aerospace company GKN Fokker.

‘Being able to share resources and collaborate with the innovators at SAM|XL is an exciting advancement for Eastman in the composites industry,’ said Elizabeth McGruder, Eastman VP.
