The European UP/VE Resin Association is a Cefic Sector Group and a member of the European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA).

The 14 Safe Handling Guides address key health, safety and environmental issues associated with the storage and processing of unsaturated polyester (UP) and vinyl ester (VE) resins.

The publications aim to communicate best practices for the safe handling of these resins within the composites manufacturing value chain to create a cleaner and safer workshop. They cover the following topics:

  1. Safe handling of unsaturated polyester resins
  2. Safe handling of constituent material used in composite processing
  3. Occupational exposure to styrene
  4. Storage of UP resins
  5. Methods of monitoring exposure to styrene
  6. Low styrene emission and low styrene content resins
  7. Workplace ventilation
  8. Personal protection equipment
  9. Styrene abatement techniques
  10. European legislation governing the polyester industry
  11. REACH and the polyester processing industry Icon
  12. Classification and handling of FRP waste within the current EC legislation
  13. Unsaturated polyester resins and the EU VOC Directive
  14. "Cleaner, smarter, cheaper” – Towards a safe and clean polyester workshop
