Composites manufacturing specialist RPC, headquartered in Australia, designed and developed a ribbed mine vent duct using carbon fibre. It can withstand a higher vacuum and is half the weight of its fibreglass counterpart.

This reduction in weight decreases risks associated with handling of mine vent ducting during installation or relocation (i.e. less back injuries).

RPC offers standard duct lengths of 2 m, 2.4 m and 3 m.

A 718 mm diametercarbon fibre duct of 3 m in length weighs in at 21 kg.

  • The RPC carbon fibre mine duct was awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ at the PACE Zenith Awards in the Automotive & Manufacturing category.
