Recycled PP for automotive

Plastic Omnium and energy company TotalEnergies have partnered to develop new recycled polypropylene materials for the automotive industry.

Plans are for the new materials to have between 20% to 100% recycled materials sourced from industrial and domestic waste streams. This could have a CO2 impact as much as six times lower than using virgin materials. The use of plastics can also reduce overall vehicle weight and cut fuel consumption.

“This project will also contribute to addressing the challenge of the circular economy and to our ambition of producing 30% recycled and renewable polymers by 2030,” said Valérie Goff, SVP at TotalEnergies.
