US-based Collins Aerospace has been selected to deliver NP2000 propeller systems with composite blades for US Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve aircraft.

The NP2000 propellers will be supplied to an additional 26 C-130H aircraft, and the Air Force plans to retrofit around 140 C-130H craft with the systems, the company said. Upgrades have also been ordered for 83 C-130H aircraft.

According to Collins, its propeller systems offer a 20% thrust increase during take-off, a 50% reduction in maintenance hours and a 20db sound reduction in the cockpit compared to legacy systems.
