Composites UK has launched the program for its first Confidence in Composites event, taking place on 15 and 16 October in Oxford, UK. The event will look at the non-destructive evaluation, structural health monitoring and repair of fiber reinforced polymer composites, the organizers say.
Abstracts submitted for this event have been peer reviewed by Robert Smith, professor of NDT and High Value Manufacturing, British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing, Uday Vaidya PhD, chief technology officer, IACMI, Ajay Kapadia, knowledge transfer manager, Knowledge Transfer Network, Rob Rose, engineering capability lead, National Composites Centre, Holly Phillips MBE, principal naval architect, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and Richard Freemantle, director, Wavelength NDT.
‘This new conference takes an in-depth look into how composite materials can be monitored, and as the title suggests, aims to increase the confidence in the use of composites over alternative materials such as steel or aluminum,’ said Claire Whysall, communications manager at Composites UK.
