PPG adds new chopped strand products

CHOPVANTAGE HP3270 is a 10 micron chopped strand glass fibre offering high performance in polypropylene (PP) compounds. Potential applications for the product can be found in the automotive and appliance segments, such as in washers and dryers where white colour characteristics are critical.

CHOPVANTAGE HP3613 offers the proprietary sizing chemistry of the CHOPVANTAGE HP3610 chopped strand glass fibre in a 13 micron fibre diameter. Available for polyamide (PA) applications, PPG reports that this product offers high hydrolysis resistance in long life coolant systems and meets US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and EU food compliance requirements as well as potable water guidelines.

CHOPVANTAGE HP3730 is reported to offer excellent hydrolysis resistance in thermoplastic polyesters such as PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) and PET (polyethylene terephthalate) compounds, as well as high mechanical properties in biodegradable plastics such as PLAs (polylactic acids), PHAs (polyhydroxyalkanoates) and PTTs (polytrimethyleneterephthalates). This chopped strand glass fibre is designed for use in high-end applications in transportation, electric and electronic appliances, and computer housings and components, says PPG.

“The launch of these new chopped strand fibre products further expands our comprehensive line of CHOPVANTAGE chopped strand fibres that provide high levels of mechanical properties with excellent hydrolysis and heat resistance, and processing,” says Co den Besten, PPG global business director of chopped fibres for thermoplastics.
