Polyurethane pultrusion produces military containers

Using Bayer MaterialScience’s Baydur® PUL 2500 two-component polyurethane system, Conforce International Inc produced the EKO-FLOR ms1 interlocking, lightweight, composite panel system for special-application shipping containers purchased by the US military.

The interlocking panels, designed for military supply shelving, are 24 inches wide and cut to length as required. They are a nominal 1.25 inches deep.

“We chose polyurethanes from Bayer MaterialScience and BaySystems™ because of the overall mechanical properties and perceived performance improvements – including a highly desirable strength-to-weight ratio, overall weight reduction and the ability to work in tandem with our specific reinforcements,” says Marino Kulas, President and CEO of Conforce International Inc.

Baydur is part of BaySystems™, the umbrella brand for the global polyurethane systems operations of Bayer MaterialScience headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
