Polynt Composites invests in new production lines

Italy-based Polynt Composites has invested in a new production line at its Frankfurt, Germany facility to make carbon fiber reinforced sheet molding compounds (SMC) for serial applications.

The newline has a production width of maximum 1.5 m and can operate with chopped carbon fibers in different fiber lengths, with recycled carbon fleece and with all types of fabric for prepregs. It has a capacity of about 2.000 tons/year. Polynt Composites has also developed and is using new resins systems for SMC applications in various market sectors.

In all, Polynt has a total capacity of 80.000 tons/year from its Italy, Germany, Poland and South Korea plants.

Due to the growing demand for carbon fiber materials, Polynt’s management is also looking at the possibility of opening a further production line in South Korea in 2016.
