The Alan Turing Institute and the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) have signed an agreement to increase the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in manufacturing.
The AMRC and the institute, which researches data science and AI, will look specifically at uncertainty quantification, human-centric design and privacy-preserving technologies, such as utility and application of synthetic data. Projects include the response to Covid-19, the organizations say.
‘AI and machine learning are likely to be at the heart of many manufacturing systems and it is important that the UK harnesses its research and innovation capability to take a leading role in developing solutions,’ said Professor Sam Turner, Chief Technology Officer for HVM Catapult, a group of technology and innovation centers including the AMRC.
