Aitken, South Carolina-based AGY is a US- based producer of glass yarns and high-strength glass reinforcements used in composite applications.
The sale follows Owens Corning's previously announced plans to sell its composite manufacturing facilities located in Battice, Belgium; Birkeland, Norway; and Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. The divestitures are intended to address regulatory concerns associated with Owens Corning's proposed acquisition of Saint-Gobain's Reinforcement and Composites business.
