New machine to make Formula 1 parts

Global Technologies Racing (GTR), based in the UK, says that it has installed a large-size 5-axis CNC milling machine as part of a new £1 mn composites manufacturing company.

According to the company, the new Fanum Lambda VTS machine has an internal capacity of 4200 x 3200 x 1300mm and machines to an accuracy of +/-0.1mm. The larger machining envelope helps enable GTR to cut larger sized patterns, molds and parts.

GTR was established in March 2003 to build composite parts for Formula 1 and Indy Car racing teams.
