The Centre, which is owned by the University of Bristol, opened in November 2011 and is an independent, open-access national centre to deliver innovation in the design and rapid manufacture of composites. (See UK’s National Composites Centre open for business.)
The NCC will use the money to construct additional facilities adjacent to the existing building. The new building will provide increased capacity and a dedicated high speed composite manufacturing technology facility, and will also be used for training. It is planned to be completed by second quarter of 2014.

This new investment takes total government funding in the centre to over £40 million.
