The car will be based on Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV model, tested in Iceland and launched in Japan earlier this year. Global sales of the right-hand drive vehicle will begin this year and Mitsubishi says it plans to expand rollout to the left-hand drive markets in 2010.
Production of Mitsubishi and Peugeot Citroën’s electric car will start next October, for commercial launch by the end of 2010.
Peugeot Citroën is aiming to produce up to 25,000 units per year across 27 European countries, shared equally across the two brands, according to reports.
