Composites UK says that Ken Smart, McLaren Automotive’s executive director for business strategy, will speak at its 2019 Awards Dinner. The dinner takes place on 30 October 2019 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, UK, to coincide with the Advanced Engineering Show. The event is intended to be a celebration of the UK composites industry and its innovations over the past 12 months. Smart will reportedly discuss McLaren’s strategy for the future use of fiber reinforced polymer composite materials and the positive effects this could have on the composites supply chain. He became the chair of the Composites Leadership Forum (CLF) and is working with CLF stakeholders and working groups to support the industry and help it achieve its predicted growth targets, Composites UK said. McLaren Automotive will also display one of its latest models at the event, as well as several other composite components including a carbon fiber Monocell and logo preform.
