Magna to produce carbon fibre composite body panels for two 2016 vehicles

The vehicles have not been named.

With our unique formulations and production expertise, we’ve been able to take our carbon fibre processing and know-how to the next level – that being outer body panels.

Magna Exteriors reports it can now produce Class-A carbon fibre composite body panels at "the production rates needed for the automotive industry."

This has been made possible using US-headquartered carbon fibre manufacturer Zoltek's Panex 35 carbon fibre.

Last year, Magna and Zoltek announced the launch of a carbon fibre sheet moulding compound (SMC) for automotive applications.

Magna, an operating group of Magna International Inc, Canada, says it now offers a complete range of lightweight composite parts, sub-systems and semi-structural applications for automotive as well as commercial truck and other markets.
