Lanxess to expand plastics production in China

The chemicals company says that it will invest around €30 million to build a second compounding line for its Durethan and Pocan engineering plastics at its manufacturing site in Changzhou.

This expansion will increase capacity in by 30,000 metric tons per year, and bring the company’s total compounding capacity in China to 110,000 metric tons per year. The new line is planned to go on stream in the first quarter of  2023.

‘This expansion caters to the strong demand we experience from the growing Chinese automotive industry,’ said Hubert Fink, board member at Lanxess. Lanxess also sees e-mobility as a major field of application for its Tepex fiber-reinforced composites.
