The portal is designed to be a communications tool for the exchange of all Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) information and data, as well as dissemination of news, between Huntsman and everyone that the company deals with.
Every direct customer and distributor will be given an ID user number to access information related to the completion of the REACH process.
“We are not a consulting agency, but we recognise that for a number of medium to smaller size companies REACH is causing administration problems, and as a chemical manufacturer we want to help them as much as we can," says Martin Schneiter, Huntsman Chemicals Sustainability Director.
REACH
Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals or REACH requires the registration of 143 000 substances, which were pre-registered by 65 000 companies, over the next nine years in order to ascertain their potential effects on human health and the environment. It is being overseen by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
REACH affects all European Union (EU) manufacturers and importers of chemicals.
