Gurit reports results for first nine months of 2010

Excluding acquisitive effects, target market sales were CHF191.6 million, or 17.8% below the same period last year at constant rates.

Net sales for the Wind Energy sector were CHF42.0 million for the third quarter (Q3) of 2010 and CHF116.2 million for the first nine months of 2010. This confirms a certain recovery from the low recorded in the first quarter (Q1) of 2010, yet sales are 27.4% below the first nine months of 2009. Gurit says markets remain stagnant in Europe and America but sales in China are growing. The Gurit Tooling business reports lower net sales of CHF9.1 million for Q3 2010 due to a hesitant market situation in China as customers decide about the next generation of wind turbine blades. However, sales increased in India and a first mould order was received from Europe. Sales for the first nine months of 2010 totalled CHF36.9 million. In the Transportation sector, Gurit saw Q3 net sales of CHF14.9 million. For the nine months Gurit recorded net sales of CHF41.5 million, down 10.3% (-6.6% at constant rates) on the first nine months of 2009. Net sales in the Marine sector were CHF13.9 million in Q3 2010, a bit lower than in the preceding quarter.  CHF41.3 million in sales were recorded for the first nine months 2010, up 26.2% over the same period of 2009.
