Gurit establishes Engineered Structures business unit

Gurit believes this will enable it to better address new market opportunities for composite applications. The Gurit Engineered Structures unit will continue to support the engineering needs of Gurit’s key markets in the wind energy and marine industries, but it will also address new markets with a comprehensive service including conceptual design, structural engineering, material selection, rapid prototyping and component manufacturing. Graham Harvey, currently General Manager of Gurit’s Marine business (SP-High Modulus), will manage the Engineered Structures unit from 1 October 2011, reporting to Gurit CEO Rudolf Hadorn. “This is the start of a next growth initiative for Gurit," says Hadorn. "It follows the rapid build-up of its business presence in Asia and the strategic broadening of its material and services offering for the wind energy market with tooling and the development of a complete core material product range.”

Harvey will continue to run the Marine business until his successor has been found.

Gurit, headquartered in Wattwil, Switzerland, specialises in the development and manufacture of advanced composite materials and related technologies. Its product range includes prepregs, core materials, gel-coats, adhesives, resins and certain finished parts.
