Industrial Fiberglass Specialties (IFS) in the US, plans to expand its line of filament wound, corrosion resistant glass fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) materials.

According to the company, its products can meet severe duty requirements, making them suitable for chemical, oil and gas, power, and mining applications, including industrial piping and fittings.

IFS’ range includes corrosion resistant methacrylate-modified epoxy FRP pipe, duct and fittings for chemical service environment applications. These pipes reportedly cost around 35% less than epoxy pipe, while methacrylate-modified epoxy products also offer alternatives to alloys and specialty metals for projects requiring fire retardant and explosion resistant requirements.

The company’s filament wound methacrylate-modified epoxy FRP pipe and duct products are available in sizes ranging from 3/8 in to 168 in, IFS says that it builds its products to ASTM standards for iron pipe outside diameters (OD) and chemical process pipe inside diameters (ID).
