GKN signs new contract with Velocity Composites

Velocity Composites Ltd has signed a new contract that will see the company supply aerospace manufacturer GKN Aerospace with structural plies for the next five years.

The aerospace composite kitting solution provider, which has its headquarters in Lancashire, UK, will supply structural cut composite shapes and plies to support GKN Aerospace’s programs for the A350 XWB aircraft.  Velocity will begin to supply GKN Aerospace’s Western Approach facility from January 2016.

The two firms already have a strong working relationship with Velocity having supplied GKN Aerospace’s Luton facility for the last seven years.

‘[We] look forward to continuing a successful working relationship as we support their delivery demands against the A350 XWB program,’ said Velocity Composites’ MD Darren Ingram. ‘Positive discussions are ongoing between ourselves and GKN Aerospace around the potential for Velocity to open a third site in the Severn Beach area of Bristol.

‘It’s another chapter in Velocity’s growth as we continue to build key relationships with multinational aerospace manufacturers and strengthen our position as a leading supply chain company.’
