Funding for carbon fiber production

Trillium Renewable Chemicals says that it has received US$10.6 mn financing to commercialize a process that converts plant-based feedstocks into acrylonitrile and acetonitrile.

Acrylonitrile is usually manufactured from oil and gas derivatives and can be used to make carbon fiber, plastic and textiles.

"Demonstrating our technology at scale is job one,” said Corey Tyree, CEO of Trillium. “With funding from quality partners, we can realize our potential to become a leading producer of renewable chemicals.”
