Scott Bader and Structural Science Composites (SSC) have signed a five-year partnership covering the supply of Scott Bader’s Crestapol urethane acrylate resin to make composite covers and frames.
SSC, based in the UK, has supplied products to the water, gas, oil, electricity and other infrastructure sectors since 2007. With this agreement, it has set a target to double commercial output over the next four to five years, the companies said.
According to Scott Bader, using the resin could allow SSC to make covers and frames that are one quarter the weight of concrete covers and one third the weight of iron covers.
‘This new five-year partnership allows both parties to plan their expansion using the Crestapol resin in our entire range of composite covers and frames which are exported all over the world and provide benefits to all our utility sector customers,’ said Harm Tegelaars, MD of SSC. ‘Structural Science Composites manufacture B, C and D class covers and frames that are permanently anti-slip, provide seal and lock options, are corrosion resistant, can be made conductive or non-conductive and require very little maintenance.’
