ELG acquires Recycled Carbon Fibre Ltd

RCF pioneered the commercial scale recovery of carbon fibre from waste composite. In 2009, the company set up its UK processing facility, which has the capability to process 2000 tonnes of carbon fibre waste annually.

Earlier this year RCF signed a contract with GKN Aerospace under which it will recycle the uncured carbon fibre composite waste from its aerostructure manufacturing operation in Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK.

The acquisition of RCF provides ELG, a buyer and processer of stainless steel scrap and other metals, entry into the growing composites recycling market. In cooperation with the RCF management team, ELG plans to expand the business globally. ELG has more than 40 locations in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific.

RCF will now operate under the name of ELG Carbon Fibre Ltd, supervised by current managing director Stephen Line.
