DSM Dyneema acquires laminate specialist

DSM Dyneema has acquired Cubic Tech, a privately owned company based in Arizona, USA, that specializes in lightweight flexible laminates and fabrics.

Cubic Tech makes products for yacht sails, equipment and apparel for sportswear, outdoor and future soldier programs as well as emergency medical equipment.

The acquisition of Cubic Tech broadens DSM Dyneema’s product portfolio, particularly in the development of UHMwPE fiber, tape and uni-directional (UD) fabrics.

’We have worked closely with Cubic Tech as a valued customer for many years, so we know that the two companies have a shared passion for innovation,’ said Gerard de Reuver, CEO of DSM Dyneema.

‘Cubic Tech’s philosophy is very akin to our own, with a fundamental belief in extremely lightweight and strong constructions,’ Jeff Turner, VP strategy of DSM Dyneema, added.

Cubic Tech will be fully integrated into DSM Dyneema and all employees of Cubic Tech are being invited to stay on after the acquisition.
