DowAksa has announced DJ DeLong as the new general manager for the DowAksa USA operations.
DeLong will be responsible for the implementation of the overall DowAksa strategy in North America, sales team leadership and driving revenue as well as general management responsibilities.
He has worked in the composites industry for over thirty years and is currently the general partner of DeLong and Associates, LLC, a business consulting firm in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. This company was the North American sales agents for DowAksa carbon fibers and will become part of DowAksaUSA.
DeLong was also formerly general manager of BP Amoco’s carbon fiber business unit and co-chaired the Composites World global market outlook conference on carbon fibers on four different occasions and has written numerous industry editorials and articles. He was LAO board chairman of the advanced composites trade association SACMA.

Wally Gutzmer will continue as national sales manager, carbon fiber and Cindy Thurston will continue as customer service manager, carbon fiber. DowAksa USA’s first general manager, Eric Coleman, has returned to Dow Chemical’s government markets & lightweight materials group and will continue to support DowAksa USA’s business development and sales growth in infrastructure and other sectors.
