Dow and Aksa plan carbon fibre joint venture

AKSA, headquartered in Turkey, is a leading producer of acrylic fibre. The company started producing carbon fibre in 2008.

Dow Europe is a subsidiary of global science and technology company Dow. The company's Dow Formulated Systems business group currently produces VORAFORCE epoxy and polyurethane-based systems for the composites industry. The epoxy products are reported to exhibit excellent compatibility with carbon fibre.

Dow and Aksa state that through this agreement, both companies will work together to explore opportunities to create fully-integrated production facilities for the manufacture and global supply of carbon fibres and derivatives.

The companies plan tol examine opportunities to develop and market a broad range of products and technical service offerings in the carbon fibre composites industry.
