Dassault Systèmes acquires Simulayt Ltd

Dassault Systèmes, headquartered in France, says this acquistion strengthens its leadership in providing PLM solutions for the composites industry.

Dassault Systèmes applications provide a 3D vision of the lifecycle of products from conception to maintenance to recycling. The portfolio consists of CATIA for designing the virtual product, DELMIA for virtual production, SIMULIA for virtual testing, ENOVIA for global collaborative lifecycle management, EXALEAD for search-based applications, SolidWorks for 3D mechanical design and 3DVIA for online 3D lifelike experiences.

UK company Simulayt develops and licenses the Layup Technology, which incorporates advanced fibre simulation and ply modeling capabilities. This allows the efficient and integrated design, analysis and manufacture of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) products. By simulating manufacturing processes and linking this data to analysis and design models, the engineer can develop better products at lower cost.

CATIA Version 6 and CATIA Version 5 composite solutions allow users to virtually design, experience and manufacture composite products. Simulayt adds the manufacturability simulation technologies needed to better understand and accurately predict materials behaviour, assess manufacturability, and optimise manufacturing processes.

“Simulayt’s strong technical expertise is widely recognised and its manufacturability simulation technology is systematically winning in all benchmarks," says Dominique Florack, Senior Executive Vice President, Products, R&D, Dassault Systèmes. "The ability to further integrate this technology within our Version 6 platform is critical in addressing the composites materials and processes of tomorrow, with lifelike modelling and product/production simulation experiences.”
