Covestro upgrades sustainability level

Index suppliers MSCI has reportedly raised polymer company Covestro’s sustainability rating from BBB to A, due to its increased focus on sustainable product solutions and technologies and continual improvement in safety standards.  MSCI evaluates companies annually according to environmental, social, and corporate governance standards. Covestro says that it has integrated the sustainable development goals of the United Nations into its strategy. By 2025, 80% of research and development project expenses will be targeted in areas that contribute to achieving these goals, the company claims.

Convestro also says that by 2025, greenhouse gas emissions per metric ton of product manufactured will be cut by half, from 2005 figures.
