Composites UK announces H&S events

Composites UK and Dark Matter Composites have announced a series of health and safety events in the UK.

The first of these events is entitled ‘Glass Fiber Dust – Risks, Generation, Capture & Control Measures’, and will take place on 5 May at Dark Matter Composites’ premises in Redbourn, Hertfordshire.

A seminar on carbon fiber dust has also been arranged for 13 September with another entitled ‘Composite Processing – Controlling Fumes in the Workplace’ to be announced. All sessions will include presentation and demonstration elements with delegates receiving an information sheet on the subject. The events are relevant to anyone working in the glass or carbon fiber industry or those looking at moving into production.

The information from the events builds upon that contained in the Composites UK online Health and Safety Management System (HSMS).

‘We strongly believe that implementing best practice should not be onerous and can help with the growth and development of the UK composite industry,’ said Rodney Hansen, managing director at Dark Matter Composites. ‘We felt that some health and safety guidance was too generic and needed a composite specific approach.’
