The 'green' chopper was designed and built by Orange County Choppers for Chesapeake Energy Corporation's 20th Anniversary to show the American people that natural gas can power anything from a chopper to a truck.

Chesapeake Energy is a producer of natural gas headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA.

"We couldn't be happier with the chopper and it truly is a great example of the many uses of clean natural gas," says Taylor Shinn, Manager of Corporate Development at Chesapeake Energy. "As we worked with the experts at Orange County Choppers to design the bike, we knew we wanted to work with Lincoln Composites on the fuel storage."

Lincoln Composites Inc, a subsidiary of Hexagon Composites ASA of Norway, designed and manufactured the composite fuel cylinder and carried out engineering services related to the fuel system design and installation.

"We are thrilled to have been chosen by Chesapeake to supply one of our all-composite fuel tanks for this application," says Dale Tiller, President of Lincoln Composites. "The ease with which natural gas can be used as a fuel could not have been demonstrated on a more exciting platform than an Orange County Chopper."

Orange County Choppers of Newburgh, New York, USA, is a manufacturer of custom choppers. The company is featured in the American TV show American Chopper. An episode of American Chopper featuring the gas powered chopper will be shown on The Learning Channel (TLC) / Discovery Channel on 25 June and will feature other natural gas powered vehicles.

TUFFSHELL composite tanks have a structural shell wound from a hybrid of carbon and glass fibres and epoxy resin. They have a high density polyethylene (HDPE) liner.
