CODE8 has won its first race.

The new CODE8 carbon composite yacht, manufactured by Carbon Innovation Ltd using tooling and production materials from Huntsman Advanced Materials, competed against 27 other participants to complete the 74 km race in 8 hours, 40 minutes before the boat in second place.

“Our aim was to construct a new One Design carbon racing yacht to the highest standard," explains Tamas Simon, Managing Director at Carbon Innovation.

"The application of Huntsman’s products and systems creates several advantages for the CODE8. Due to its light weight, the performance of the racing yacht is enhanced and the strength of its water tight, weather resistant bonds adds to the high quality of its design and construction. The technologies selected fit perfectly with the harsh demands of an endurance race such as Keszthely-Kenese.”

The CODE8 is scheduled to compete in the Centomiglia at Lake Garda, Italy, on 10 September, the TBS cup at Lake Balaton, Hungary, on 23 September and the Barcolana on 9 October.
