The 58,500 ft2 facility in South Carolina will open in the first quarter of 2014. It will start production of Chomarat's C-PLY™ spread tow carbon fibre multiaxial reinforcements later in the year, using a LIBA MAX 5 machine.

C-PLY can be used in the prepreg, infusion, hand lay-up, and resin transfer moulding (RTM) composite processing techniques.

With the opening of the new US site, Chomarat is aiming to strengthen its business in the North American industrial, automotive and aerospace composites markets.

The company's goal is to develop carbon fibre reinforcements for the RTM and infusion processes, building on its existing range of glass fibre based reinforcements for closed mould processes.
