China officially recognizes balsa plant

DIAB, a specialist in high-tech sandwich technology, reports that its production facility in Kunshan, China, has been granted recognition by the city’s mayor.

The plant is considered to be the safest balsa wood and IPN/PET factory in the area, the company said.

DIAB has recently made a significant investment to upgrade the facilities at the Kunshan plant, including implementing notable safety measures. All the equipment has been aligned with the latest EX regulations, new dust collectors have been purchased and existing dust collectors have been upgraded. The factory now has a basically dust-free environment. Tools as 5S and LEAN manufacturing principles have been implemented to further improve work environment. 'We are very proud of having received this recognition,’ said Johan Gralén, executive vice president Asia Pacific at DIAB. ‘DIAB established its first facility in Kunshan in 2005 as the first international core company in China and has since then continuously increased its operations. Today, our plant has around 300 employees and a second plant is under construction. We are determined to create and maintain a safe working environment for all of our employees and safety practices are incorporated into each job task.’
