Brazil's composites industry sees sales grow 4.9% in the second quarter

Sales for the 2012 second quarter were up 9.4% on the second quarter of 2011.

For the first six months of 2012 sales totalled $751 million, up 5.9% on the first half of 2011.

According to Maxiquim, which produced the data for the Latin American Composite Materials Association (ALMACO), the consumption of composite raw materials in the second quarter of 2012 fell 8.8% from the first quarter to reach 50 600 tons.

For the full year 2012, Maxiquim predicts that the Brazilian composites industry's revenue may reach $1561 billion.
