Revenues for the first six months of 2009 were up 2% on 2008 at $33.7 billion.
The company expects to issue a new schedule for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner during the third quarter. This follows a recently announced further delay to the first flight of the 787 as the result of a need to reinforce an area within the side-of-body section of the aircraft.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes
Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA)'s second quarter 2009 revenues were down 2% on 2008 at $8.4 billion as a result of slightly lower aircraft deliveries and lower volume in services.
For the first half of 2009, revenues rose to $17 billion on increased airplane deliveries, partially offset by lower volume in services.
BCA booked 57 gross orders during the quarter while 52 others were removed from its order book. Contractual backlog was $257 billion, more than seven times BCA's expected 2009 revenues.
Boeing expects to issue a revised schedule for the 787 Dreamliner programme and an assessment of its financial implications during the third quarter.
The company also recently announced an agreement to acquire Vought's South Carolina facility which supports the 787 programme.
The 787 programme had new orders for 13 airplanes during the quarter and cancelled orders for 41 others. Total firm orders are now 850 787 aircraft from 56 customers.
