Ahlstrom claims that AceBlade will deliver benefits for designers and manufacturers of wind turbine blades.

The glass reinforcement is a cost effective solution for composites vacuum infusion processes and enables manufacturers to lower raw material costs during blade manufacture. Its good resin flow properties minimise air voids.

Energy & Environment is one of the market sectors Ahlstrom is focused on, and AceBlade reinforcement for wind turbine blades fits into this segment.

Ahlstrom's new strategy

Ahlstrom, headquartered in Finland, is a manufacturer of high performance fibre-based materials, including glass fibre reinforcements for composites.

During the last four years the company has refocused its portfolio and Ahlstrom's strategy today is to become a global high performance materials company offering products for a clean and healthy environment.

The company has also identified composite materials for the construction and transportation industries as a growth area (see chart).
