COMPOSITES EUROPE 2009 attracted over 6000 visitors to Stuttgart.

According to organiser Reed Exhibitions, 80% of the exhibition area for COMPOSITES EUROPE 2010 – the fifth European Trade Fair and Forum for Composite Materials, Technology and Applications – has already been booked.

The event takes place on 14-16 September at the Essen Exhibition Centre in Germany.

A large number of key players have registered their participation, including BASF, 3B Fibreglass, resin producer AOC, German company MAG, and Italian engineering firm Breton. Europe’s largest supplier of carbon fibres, Toho Tenax, will also exhibit at COMPOSITES EUROPE for the first time.

Some 350 international exhibitors in total are expected at COMPOSITES EUROPE and over 600 at ALUMINIUM.

COMPOSITES EUROPE has grown steadily since the first event in 2006. Last year the show was held in Stuttgart and attracted over 6000 visitors. Almost every second visitor came from the automotive sector, followed by the aerospace, building and construction, boat building, and wind power sectors.

Holland named partner country

In 2010 Holland will be the partner country of COMPOSITES EUROPE. Various exhibitors will show their innovations at the Dutch pavilion, which is being organised in cooperation with Vereniging Kunststof Composieten Nederland (VKCN), the association for the composites industry in the Netherlands.

The composites industry in the Netherlands comprises around 350 companies, of which about 250 are production companies. Most are small- and medium-sized companies which focus on speciality products and niche markets. The products are sold into many sectors, including the marine, construction and transport industries, as well as aerospace and wind energy.

International AVK Conference

Once again, the International Conference of the AVK – the German federation of reinforced plastics – will mark the beginning of this year’s COMPOSITES EUROPE trade fair. On 13-14 September, some 500 participants are expected at the Congress Center. Presentations at the AVK conference document innovations in the area of reinforced plastic composites and topics for this year include new applications, joining technology, testing, and thermoplastic composites.

For the first time, a 'Mittelstandsforum' will focus on topics of interest to small- and medium-sized businesses. The partner for this forum is Carbon Composites eV.

As every year, a special highlight of the conference will be the AVK Innovation Awards at the Composites Night on the first evening of the event.
