3A Composites has added to its balsa plantations in Ecuador.

3A Composites now owns almost 10.000 hectares of plantations in Ecuador. The company owns the entire product cycle, from seedling to finished core material, and can guarantee long term supply volumes as well as unrivalled process and quality controls.

3A Composites says that its BALTEK® SBC product is the only Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified balsa worldwide. (FSC is a global, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide.)

Balsa core material is used in many composite sandwich applications, ranging from wind turbine blades to marine and construction products.

“Long-term availability guarantees for BALTEK® balsa, combined with tomorrow’s enhanced products, clearly deliver a higher value to our customers and their end products," states Roman Thomassin, CEO of 3A Composites Core Materials.

"Our global footprint also assures that we can offer a local supply chain to our customers – worldwide. This proves once more that we remain a reliable partner in a volatile market place.”
