Ashland adds corrosion-resistant product to Envirez® 'green' resin range

17 February 2010

Ashland Performance Materials has added a corrosion-resistant product to its Envirez® range of unsaturated polyester resins containing renewable materials.

The new Envirez 7241 T-15 is a pre-promoted thixotropic corrosion-resistant isophthalic polyester resin. Ashland says it  can be used to fabricate durable, corrosion-resistant equipment such as fume hoods, ducts, tanks and pipes.

Envirez 7241 T-15 can be used in hand lay-up and spray-up processes.

“This new product is ideal for fabricators who serve the municipal wastewater and agricultural industries,” says Thom Johnson, corrosion industry manager, Ashland. “Bids are often awarded to the fabricator who can provide the most environmentally sustainable solution. Envirez 7241 T-15 isophthalic polyester resin will give those fabricators a decided edge in winning new projects.”

Fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) products made using the Envirez resin line can also contribute credit toward Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) points from the US Green Building Council. Envirez 7241 T-15 contains 24% recycled content and contributes to LEED credit MR-4.

Ashland Performance Materials, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc (NYSE: ASH), manufactures unsaturated polyester resins and epoxy vinyl ester resins.
