Boeing sees China as fastest growing aviation market

05 November 2008

Aircraft maker Boeing forecasts that China will need 3710 new aircraft worth about US$390 billion over the next 20 years.

"China will continue to be the fastest-growing aviation centre in the world, requiring 41% of the entire Asia-Pacific region airplane demand," says Randy Tinseth, Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president - Marketing. "This makes China the largest market outside of the US for new commercial airplanes."

According to Boeing's Current Market Outlook 2008-2027, China's air travel and air cargo market growth will cause China's fleet to more than triple to 4560 airplanes by 2027 - about as many aircraft as are in Europe today.

Worldwide, Boeing projects investments of $3.2 trillion for 29 400 new commercial aircraft to be delivered during the next 20 years.
