The overall market for resin matrices in the Indian reinforced plastics industry recorded a healthy growth rate in fiscal year 2011, reports Composite Insights, a research firm based in Hyderabad, India. However, it points out, the growth rate for unsaturated polyester resin demand was relatively very low compared to growth rates for epoxy and thermoplastic resins.

However, Composite Insights concludes, the growth in the domestic Indian market and recovery in export market fuels the demand unsaturated polyester resin demand, which is forecast to increase by about 2.5 times by fiscal year ended 31 March 2017.

The report, Customer Mapping for Indian Unsaturated Polyester Resin Industry, notes that the top 100 customers accounted for an estimated 65% of unsaturated polyester resin demand in fiscal year 2011.

The study is also said to highlight the unsaturated polyester resin consumption for more than 225 customers, examine the 10 leading resin suppliers, and evaluate the impact of raw materials prices on resin price.
