STRUCTeam wins China wind blade design contracts

STRUCTeam has won two contracts for the design and structural engineering of large wind turbine blades for clients based in China.

STRUCTeam reports that both projects are for blades of around 50 m in length and are intended for use on multi-megawatt (MW) sized turbines.

The blades will be subjected to third party certification and are anticipated to be in production in the first half of 2012.

“We are naturally delighted to win these two contracts in the strategically important Chinese wind energy market," Julien Sellier, Engineering Director of UK headquartered engineering and composite materials consultancy STRUCTeam.

"We have made significant investments both in the design tools that allow us to undertake this type of design and engineering work, as well as building a high level of expertise within our Engineering and IT teams."
