Cray Valley says EnviroGuard resins can be used to produce composites parts for a broad range of industry sectors, including building, transport, marine, automotive and rail, and can be used in almost all composites industry processes, including RTM, infusion, pultrusion, and SMC.
According to Cray Valley, the production of these bio-sourced resins requires less use of fossil fuel resources, which consequently improves their carbon footprint.
Cray Valley points out that precise data is difficult to obtain but some raw material manufacturers quote a 50-80% reduction in CO2 emissions for their products. Therefore the use of EnviroGuard resins should lead to a carbon footprint 10-30% less than that of traditional resins. Cray Valley is currently working on the validation of this data.
The EnviroGuard range was launched in North America last year by Cray Valley sister company Cook Composites & Polymers (CCP).
Cray Valley and CCP are part of French group Total's Chemicals branch.
