Kaman wins Learjet 85 composite door contract

28 February 2011

Kaman Corporation's Composites Division has been awarded a contract to manufacture composite passenger entry and over-wing exit doors for the Bombardier Learjet 85 aircraft.

The Bombardier Learjet 85 aircraft is a new mid-sized business jet built primarily from composites.

"We are very pleased to have this opportunity to produce these complex all-composite door structures," says James Larwood, Composites Division president. "Kaman specialises in composite aerospace structures and we look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities and competitiveness on the Learjet 85 aircraft programme."

Kaman will build the doors at its facility in Darwen, Lancashire, UK.

The Learjet 85 is scheduled to enter service in 2013. Bombardier Aerospace's new facility at its site in the Querétaro Aerospace Park, Mexico, has started fabrication of the major composite structures of the aircraft.

Kaman Corporation is headquartered in Bloomfield, Connecticut, USA, and is active in the aerospace and industrial distribution markets.
