The PEKK is said to be the only polymer on the market to withstand continuous high temperatures of around 260°C – its melting point is 360°C, and according to Arkema, the PEKK’s properties are comparable to those of some metals, but with a lower density.
The PEKK polymer offers good dimensional stability, resistance to chemicals and abrasion resistance.
PEKK is already applied to the medical sector for implants and prostheses, aerospace, and deep-water oil and gas extraction.
