VISTAGY’s software used for composite fuselage sections

14 April 2009

Tier One supplier to Airbus, Premium AEROTEC, is using VISTAGY Inc’s FiberSIM® software to design and manufacture large composite fuselage sections.

Premium AEROTEC, an EADS Group subsidiary, is said to have chosen FiberSIM composite software due its ability to reduce errors and subsequent design revisions; automate non-value added tasks, such as redundant data entry; enhance downstream consumption of data; and improve overall engineering productivity.

FiberSIM
The FiberSIM suite of software supports all design and manufacturing methodologies necessary to engineer durable and lightweight composite products and parts. It addresses the full composites engineering process, from conception, laminate definition and ply creation through simulation, documentation and manufacturing, and is integrated into the computer aided design (CAD) systems CATIA V4, CATIA V5, NX and Pro/ENGINEER.

The carbon composite aerostructures designer and manufacturer also needed software that could perform rapid design changes as well as support a structure-based design process, critical to accurate and efficient fuselage design.
