This Reinforced Plastics feature discusses the latest developments in fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) bridges.
FRP is not generally considered as a candidate material by bridge owners, as they tend to stick to tried and tested materials with which they are familiar. However, many current bridges could have been made from FRP and this may have provided technical and economic benefits, especially once through-life costs are considered.
This feature was published in the May/June 2010 issue of Reinforced Plastics magazine and looks at some of the latest developments in FRP bridge design.
